Angel Island is a microcosm of U.S. history, having served as a Civil War encampment, a quarantine station during the Spanish-American War, a discharge depot and recruitment processing center during World War I, an embarkation station and POW camp during World War II, and an immigration station often referred to as "The Ellis Island of the West" from 1910 through 1940.   • Bay Model Visitor Center - The Bay Model is a three-dimensional hydraulic model of the San Francisco Bay and Delta areas, and is capable of simulating tides, currents, and river inflows. The model is over 1.5 acres in size and represents an area from the Pacific Ocean to Sacramento and Stockton. This includes the San Francisco, San Pablo, and Suisun bays as well as a portion of the San Joaquin Delta. Self-guided tours in five languages are available.

  • Marine Mammal Center - The Marine Mammal Center recognizes humanity's responsibility to use its awareness, compassion, and intelligence to ensure the survival and conservation of marine animals and their habitats. We do this through rescue and treatment of ill, injured, and orphaned marine mammals; scientific inquiry to increase knowledge of marine mammals; and communication and educational programs.
